Now is the time to reflect, while your next pathway beckons, writes Bronwyn Pike.
I would like to congratulate the more than 50,000 students who have just completed their Victorian Certificate of Education and 15,640 who have successfully obtained a Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning. This is an exciting time for these students. As a former teacher, I also get great satisfaction hearing the stories of students who have worked hard to succeed in their studies.Getting your VCE or VCAL results is a moving and rewarding experience, so do take the time to reflect on the remarkable things you have done. Many students will continue studying next year in courses at Victoria's TAFEs or universities, while others will join the workforce or take up apprenticeships. The effort you have put into your education will pay off for years to come. You have acquired skills that prepare you for work, life and other experiences and challenges. In this supplement, you will find a list of students who have obtained outstanding VCE results, having gained a Study Score of 40 or higher. It is not easy to achieve excellence at this level and I congratulate these students for their hard work and dedication. Many students who have not reached these high levels also deserve our recognition. Students who have worked consistently and hard to do their best should feel just as proud of their achievements. You may feel disappointed you didn't achieve your best. Remember, life offers many pathways to success.Study Scores are not the only measure of success. You may have found success through sport, as a leader or performer or through a commitment to community. You have set an example for futurestudents and can be proud of your contribution to your school.Like VCE students, the Victorian Government has been working hard to ensure every student receives every opportunity for a high-qualityeducation and real opportunities to succeed. Once again, congratulations to all VCE and VCAL students and I wish you all the best for the future.Bronwyn Pike is the Victorian Minister for Education
